Current position

Sindh remains an ordinary province of Pakistan. The JSMM remains banned, and its leadership continues to advocate for Sindhudesh independence from exile in Germany; this bundle does not document a mass-mobilized independence campaign within Sindh comparable to the movement's 1970s peak under G.M. Syed.[1]

    Claim: The Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz (JSMM) was founded on 26 November 2000 by Shafi Muhammad Burfat, advocating for Sindhudesh's secession from Pakistan; the Pakistani government banned the JSMM on 15 March 2013. Burfat has continued to advocate for the organization from exile in Germany, where he lives under political asylum.
