Independence Atlas explains the histories of independence and self-determination movements: why they emerged, how their goals differ, how they connect, and where each claim comes from. It is written first for curious readers who meet a movement in the news, and deep enough for students, journalists and researchers who want to follow the sources.

It is a reference, not a campaign. The atlas does not advocate for or against any movement or state, does not host fundraising or recruitment, and does not sell favourable coverage or let funding influence classifications.
