Current constitutional position

Sardinia is a special-statute autonomous region of Italy under the Special Statute of 26 February 1948.[1] No referendum on independence has been held or is legally provided for.

Independence-party representation

Pro-independence lists, including a joint iRS-ProgReS list, together won under 2.5% of the vote and no Regional Council seats at the 2024 election, won narrowly by Alessandra Todde.[2][3]

    Claim: Pro-independence lists fared poorly at the 2024 election: "Vote Sardinia," a joint list of iRS and ProgReS within the Soru coalition, won 10,830 votes (1.6%) and no seats; "Sardigna R-Esiste," including Red Moors and supporting a separate presidential bid, won 4,067 votes (0.6%) and no seats.
