    Claim: A new Pitcairn constitution came into effect in March 2010, replacing the Pitcairn Order 1970 and the Pitcairn Royal Instructions 1970; under it, the UK-appointed governor may make ordinances for Pitcairn's peace, order and good government after consulting the elected Island Council, with all ordinances subject to disallowance by the British monarch on the advice of the Secretary of State.
