Current position

No independent Oromia state exists. The OLF has operated peacefully within Ethiopia's political system since its 2018 agreement, while the distinct OLA continued an armed insurgency, with only a partial peace agreement reached with one faction in December 2024 and the broader conflict unresolved.[1]
