Current position
Lezgin-populated territory remains divided between Russia and Azerbaijan, with no distinct Lezgin administrative or autonomous status in either state. The Sadval movement has been dormant since the late 1990s, and its longtime leader Nazim Hajiyev was murdered in 2016 under circumstances not established in the sources consulted for this bundle.[1]
