Independent academic-blog account, consulted via citation, of the 27 January 1947 Aung San-Attlee Agreement, signed by Prime Minister Clement Attlee and Aung San, which promised Burmese independence within one year and provided that unification of Ministerial Burma with the Frontier Areas would occur only with the free consent of the inhabitants of those areas.
