Editorial annotation
Adopted seven weeks after the PAIGC's unilateral declaration of independence, this resolution "welcomes the recent accession to independence of the people of Guinea-Bissau, thereby creating the sovereign State of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau" and condemns continued Portuguese military occupation of parts of the territory, without itself constituting UN membership.
