Admission of Suriname to the United Nations, 1975
Following the Security Council's unanimous recommendation, the General Assembly admitted the Republic of Surinam as a member of the United Nations, nine days after independence.
What happened
The Security Council, having examined Suriname's application for UN membership, unanimously recommended on 1 December 1975 that the General Assembly admit the Republic of Surinam.[1] The General Assembly did so at its 2428th plenary meeting on 4 December 1975.[2]
