Security Council resolution 384 on East Timor, 1975

The Security Council recognised East Timor’s right to self-determination and independence and called on Indonesia to withdraw its forces.

What happened

Acting unanimously, the Council recognised the inalienable right of the people of East Timor to self-determination and independence, deplored the intervention of Indonesia’s armed forces and called on Indonesia to withdraw all its forces without delay.[1] It followed a General Assembly resolution of 12 December 1975 to similar effect.[2]
