The Security Council unanimously recommended Papua New Guinea's admission to the United Nations on 22 September 1975, and the General Assembly admitted it on 10 October 1975.
What happened
The Security Council, having examined Papua New Guinea's application, unanimously recommended at its 1841st meeting on 22 September 1975 that the General Assembly admit it to UN membership.[1] The General Assembly, at its 2383rd plenary meeting on 10 October 1975, decided to admit Papua New Guinea to UN membership.[2]
