The Palestine Liberation Organization was established as the umbrella political representative of the Palestinian people.
What happened
The Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) was founded following the first Arab League summit in Cairo in January 1964 and formally launched in Jerusalem on 2 June 1964, with Ahmad Shuqayri as its first chairman.[1] A decade later, UN General Assembly Resolution 3210 (XXIX) of 14 October 1974 invited the PLO to participate in General Assembly deliberations, and Resolution 3237 (XXIX) of 22 November 1974 granted it observer status.[2]
