Israel and the PLO exchanged mutual recognition, launching the Oslo peace process.
What happened
On 9 September 1993, the Government of the State of Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization exchanged mutual recognition, as part of the Oslo Accords process, with the PLO recognized as the representative of the Palestinian people.[1]
