What happened
The Occitan Party (Partit Occitan) was formed in Toulouse in 1987 through the union of several Occitanist movements, describing itself as an "autonomist progressive movement" seeking recognition and autonomy for the Occitan country and protection of the Occitan language and identity.[1] It is the most electorally active Occitanist party, present in a small number of municipalities and holding five representatives at regional level.[2]
