At the Northern Cypriot presidential election of 19 October 2025, Tufan Erhürman, who supports reunification of the island, defeated incumbent Ersin Tatar, who supports a two-state solution: Erhürman won 87,137 votes (62.76%) against Tatar's 49,714 votes (35.81%), on a turnout of 64.87%.[1]
