Admission of Namibia to the United Nations, 1990
Following the Security Council's recommendation, the General Assembly admitted the Republic of Namibia as the 160th member of the United Nations.
What happened
The Security Council, having examined Namibia's application for UN membership, recommended on 17 April 1990 that the General Assembly admit the Republic of Namibia.[1] The General Assembly did so at the 1st plenary meeting of its eighteenth special session on 23 April 1990.[2]
