Admission of Malta to the United Nations, 1964

What happened
The Security Council, having examined Malta's application, unanimously recommended at its 1161st meeting on 30 October 1964 that the General Assembly admit Malta to UN membership.[1] The General Assembly admitted Malta to UN membership by a decision taken at its 1286th plenary meeting on 1 December 1964; because the General Assembly's nineteenth session adopted no numbered resolutions during that period, owing to the dispute over Article 19 of the Charter concerning assessed contributions, Malta's admission is recorded as a decision rather than a numbered resolution.[2]
