What happened
The Kamtapur Liberation Organisation (KLO) was founded on 28 December 1995 by members of the Koch Rajbongshi community, with the objective of establishing a separate Kamtapur state comprising districts of West Bengal and Assam.[1]
The Kamtapur People's Party (KPP) was founded in January 1996 by Atul Roy, pursuing the same statehood demand and Kamtapuri-language recognition through electoral politics.[2]
