Claim: An organisation representing Khmer Krom peoples was established in 1985 during the First World Convention on Khmer Krom in New York City, later renamed the Khmers Kampuchea-Krom Federation (KKF) at its 1995 Fifth World Convention in Toronto; the KKF states its mission as advancing human rights, religious freedom, self-determination, and independence for the Khmer Krom people of Vietnam's Mekong Delta through peaceful means and international law, and has maintained a democratically elected board with regional chapters in several countries.
