Founding and banning of the JSMM, 2000-2013
A newer Sindhudesh advocacy organization was founded and later banned, its leadership continuing to campaign from exile.
What happened
The Sindhudesh movement declined significantly following G.M. Syed's death in 1995, with various nationalist factions reorganizing, including into the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM), founded in 1995.[1]
The Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz (JSMM) was founded on 26 November 2000 by Shafi Muhammad Burfat; Pakistan banned the organization on 15 March 2013, and Burfat has continued to advocate for Sindhudesh from exile in Germany.[2]
