Admission of Jamaica to the United Nations, 1962
The Security Council unanimously recommended Jamaica's admission to the United Nations on 12 September 1962, and the General Assembly admitted it on 18 September 1962.
What happened
The Security Council, having examined Jamaica's application, unanimously recommended at its 1018th meeting on 12 September 1962 that the General Assembly admit Jamaica to UN membership.[1] The General Assembly, at its 1122nd plenary meeting on 18 September 1962, decided to admit Jamaica to UN membership, alongside Rwanda, Burundi and Trinidad and Tobago, admitted at the same meeting.[2]
