Admission of Guyana to the United Nations, 1966
The Security Council unanimously recommended Guyana's admission to the United Nations on 21 June 1966, and the General Assembly admitted it on 20 September 1966.
What happened
The Security Council, having examined Guyana's application, unanimously recommended at its 1287th meeting on 21 June 1966 that the General Assembly admit Guyana to UN membership.[1] The General Assembly, at its 1409th plenary meeting on 20 September 1966, decided to admit Guyana to UN membership.[2]
