Gilgit Rebellion and transfer to Pakistan, 1947

A bloodless uprising ended Dogra rule over Gilgit; Pakistani administrative control began fifteen days later.

What happened

On 1 November 1947, Major William Brown led a bloodless uprising against the Dogra-appointed governor; a provisional government was established. Pakistan's political agent arrived on 16 November 1947 and took administrative control.[1]
