Provisional restoration of the Generalitat, 1977
A Spanish decree-law provisionally re-established the Generalitat of Catalonia before the new Constitution.
What happened
The decree-law of 29 September 1977 re-established the Generalitat on a provisional basis, calling it a centuries-old institution in which the Catalan people had seen a symbol of their historical personality within the unity of Spain.[1] Its president in exile, Josep Tarradellas, returned the same year.[2]
