What happened

Catalan voters had ratified the new Statute in 2006.[1] Ruling on a challenge by People’s Party deputies, the Court declared that the preamble’s references to Catalonia as a nation have no interpretative legal effect, annulled several provisions, including Catalan’s description as the “preferred” language, and set binding readings of others.[2][3]
