Charter of the French Language, 1977
Quebec’s Charter of the French Language affirmed French as the official language of Quebec.
What happened
Introduced by Camille Laurin, the Charter was assented to on 26 August 1977. It replaced the Official Languages Act of 1974 and affirmed French as the official language of Quebec.[1]
