What happened
On 21 January 2019, voters approved the Bangsamoro Organic Law by 1,540,017 to 198,750 on 85.13% turnout, establishing the BARMM.[1]

Claim: The Bangsamoro Organic Law of 2018, resulting from renewed peace negotiations begun under President Benigno Aquino III, was put to a plebiscite on 21 January 2019 with turnout of 85.13%; voters approved it by 1,540,017 to 198,750, establishing the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) as a self-governing region replacing the earlier Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, initially administered by the Bangsamoro Transition Authority.
