What happened
On 22 September 2018, gunmen attacked a military parade in Ahvaz, killing 25 people and wounding around 70; both the Islamic State and ASMLA initially claimed responsibility, but ASMLA subsequently denied involvement, attributing the initial claim to a faction expelled from the organization in 2015, while Iranian officials blamed militants based in Syria and alleged US and Gulf-state involvement.[1]
